Benefits

There are many benefits to adding this program to a school system’s curriculum. The most notable ones are:

Benefits to Individual Participants (our Helpers)

Instead of passively learning the exercises as part of a program that is being presented to them, leading the group exercises will require that the Helpers learn the material with intent and more in-depth to be better able to guide the others. This will still be a learning experience.. only better!

Participation in this type of program builds character and fosters their own development of internalistic traits. Over the course of learning and then sharing their newly acquired knowledge and skills, they will begin to experience, first-hand, the concept that making a difference in the world is within their own personal control.

Benefits to the Entire School System

Given the opportunity and voice, kids can become excellent at ‘police-ing’ each other. Development of their own voice is intrinsic to participation in this program, and by letting them take ownership of their roles, students are empowered to speak up when they see someone being bullied.

By raising students’ collective consciousness, the program will begin to create a new culture within the entire school system. The word teamwork comes to mind; this new culture will promote kindness and looking out for each other.. openly frowning upon bullying while also recognizing that bullies need our help as well.

Achievement Recognition

Presenting / coaching / mentoring participants will receive formal recognition at the end of the school year and a Letter of Recommendation from the program.

Willingness to take an active role in impacting the future speaks highly of a student’s character. This will be a unique extra-curricular experience for them to list on their college applications and job resumes.

Excellence in Leadership Awards will be given each year for exemplary participation (like being an Eagle Scout).
